On January 19, 2013, Dr. Thomas Edgar Jordan passed away suddenly. He was the husband of Christine Hatem, father of Aaron Thomas Jordan and Arianna Yoshiko Jordan; brother of John Jordan, Alma Sherwood, Naomi Diggin and the late Ryland Richard Jordan, Jr. and cherished son of Yoshiko Ferguson and the late Ryland Richard Jordan, Sr.
Dr. Jordan graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1976, the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1980, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1984. He completed training in Otolaryngology at Duke University and in Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University. He practiced with Drs. Gehris, Jordan, Day and Associates. He was a leader in the medical community, having served as Chief of Surgery at Harford Memorial Hospital, President and Treasurer of the Harford County Medical Society, Member of the Medical Executive Committee of the Upper Chesapeake Health System, Executive Board Member of Upper Chesapeake Health System, and Member of the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation.
Dr. Jordan was known for his generosity, thoughtfulness, and optimism. He hosted Christmas parties to honor his operating room colleagues, and commonly helped out the less fortunate members of his church. He honored the teachers at his children’s schools, Harford Day School, Bryn Mawr School, and Gilman School, by frequently donating tickets to Ravens, Orioles, and Terrapin games as well as to the Hippodrome Broadway Series. He lightened the atmosphere in his office with humor, such as recently showing up at his office in full Ravens fan gear, intimidating mask included. He will be dearly missed by the many people he touched in his life.
