Rosemary Catherine Short Greene August 29, 1931 - February 1, 2013 Rosemary was born on August 29, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to John Henry and Rosella (Padroze) Short. She moved with her family to Bakersfield in the late 1930's and attended St. Joseph's School before graduating from Garces Memorial High School in 1949. It was during this time that Rosemary developed life-long friendships with her fellow students and cheerleaders. At the age of 16, Rosemary met Robert Joseph Greene through a mutual friend of her sister, Jackie. Bobby and Rosie, as they affectionately called one another, would meet up at Garces dances, started dated and were engaged in 1950. Rosie and Bobby were married on January 27, 1951 at St. Joseph's Church. Together, they welcomed six children - Christine in 1951, Lorraine in 1953, Kevin in 1954, Robert (Chipper) in 1957, Sean in 1959 and Meagan in 1961. Rosie celebrated her 62nd wedding anniversary with Bobbie just five days prior to her death. Bobby loved his G.L.H.O.P.S. Rosie, his Walker River fishing partner, gin foe and the many happy times they spent with their family and with one another sharing meals at Mexicali, Bill Lee's, Pizzaville, trips to Morro Bay and celebrating Valentine's Day together. Known as Mom to her children, Rosemary was always available to help, listen and provide encouragement. A loving, kind, patient and supportive Grandma and Meema, she always welcomed her grandchildren with a big smile and warm hug. Throughout her life, in addition to being a homemaker, Rosemary worked at Bank of America, Dr. Osell's office and for her son, Chipper, at Pizzaville. She volunteered countless hours at St. Francis School & Church and Garces. She was a member of the Columbian Wives, Altar Society and Golden Agers. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosella Short; her sister, Jackie and grandson Vincent Anthony Greene. Rosemary is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Robert J. Greene. She is also survived by her six children and their spouses, all of whom will miss their mom dearly - Christine (Tina) Farris; Lorraine Wharton and her husband Paul; Kevin Greene and his wife Rose; Robert E.
