Gordon passed away peacefully on February 16, 2013, at the age of 91.
Born in Ogden, Utah on January 5, 1922, son of Charles E. Bishop and Nancy Graviet Bishop.
Beloved husband of his “Beautiful Wife”, Shirley Rosalyn Woodard Bishop, whom he married on April 22, 1942. Father of Merrell W. Bishop, Colleen Flagg, Larry L. Bishop, and Ken E. Bishop.
Loving grandfather of nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Gordon is the older brother of Carl Bishop, the only remaining sibling of their family. Preceded in death by his siblings Grace, Glen, Matilda and Charles. Gordon was a member of the US Army, serving in the Philippines, Luzon, New Guinea, and Japan during WWII. He was a career cement finisher, and business agent for Cement Masons Union, Local #400 in Sacramento, CA. Gordon helped his four children to build and renovate their homes. He spent his retirement years camping, fishing and helping his children and grandchildren with various construction projects. Viewing will be held at 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the LDS Church, 2730 Hurley Way, Sacramento, CA.
