Jerry was born in Washington State and raised in Bothell by parents Leonard R. Davison and Cecil (Bighley) Davison.
The family moved to San Diego in 1936 settling near Kensington.
He attended Hoover High School from 1936. He graduated in 1939 being named the school Athlete of the Year for his baseball ability.

He attended San Diego State College (SDSU) from 1940 to 1942. Playing baseball those 3 years as catcher, he was known as a scrappy hitter. He led the team in batting each year with averages over .400, and was named Most Valuable Player.
His education and ball playing was interrupted by WWII. He was drafted and entered the Army the day after his 21st birthday.
Attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, he served in the Philippines and Guadalcanal.
After 4 years in the military, he returned to San Diego State playing center field his senior year and graduated in 1947. SDSU Baseball retired Jerry’s number 6 jersey in 1998. He still holds the highest career batting average (over .400) in the history of SDSU baseball.
He married Francis Irene Edwards on June 10th, 1947. He continued his education at USC obtaining a Masters Degree in 1948. While working on a Doctoral Degree, he left USC when hired for a teaching position.
He started his teaching career in 1949 at Southwest Jr. High in San Ysidro for Sweetwater H.S. District. He moved to Wilson Jr. High in the San Diego School District in 1952 where he taught Typing for 21 years. Moving back to the Sweetwater District in 1973, he finished his teaching career at Granger Jr. H.S. in National City retiring in 1983.
In addition to teaching, Jerry was a part-time baseball scout. Scouting for the Baltimore Orioles for 5 years before moving to the expansion team Houston Colt 45s renamed 3 years later to the Houston Astros. He scouted 10 more years with Houston.
He was active as a coach in Little League and Pony League baseball as well as a player in the Senior Softball leagues for 13 years playing for the San Diego Silver Hawks. He helped to win 10 World Series Senior Softball titles and was named the Most Valuable Player of the very first Senior Softball World Series every played at Greensboro, North Carolina in 1989.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Francis, parents Leonard and Cecil, and step mother Selma Sally (Peterson) Davison.
He is survived by his children, Dean L. Davison (Mary) of Alpine, Ca., Debra S. Davison of San Diego, Doak G. Davison of Coronado, Ca., 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Burkhard of Maryland and cousins Lyle Bighley of Kansas and Cassandra Kelley Henderson of Florida.
