Joseph J. Curro, 89 of Rochester, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013. He was born February 24, 1924 in Yatesboro, PA, son of the late John and Antoinette (Muff) Curro. Joseph proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a soldier in 66th Black Panther Division. For many years since the War, he and his comrades would meet for reunions. Joseph is a member of Baden American Legion Post #0641.
For years he enjoyed tending a vegetable and flower garden and shared the bountiful harvest with family, friends and neighbors. He was retired from American Bridge. A faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Rochester, Joseph would pickup fellow parishioners to be sure they had a ride to Sunday Mass.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nell on June 10, 2007; his brother John; sisters: Catherine Curro and Margaret Perri; his brother-in-law: Milo Mora.
Joseph is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Joseph and Marilyn Curro, Jr., Pittsburgh; his daughter: Rhonda Ennist, Deltona, FL; brother and sister-in-law: Frank and Lois Curro, Mays Landing, NJ; sister: Rose Mora, Wilmington, DE.
Friends will be received Monday, March 4, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
