My father told us a story when he was much younger. He was trying to get to Arizona so he could find work, and provide a better life for his future wife and family in Mexico. While on his long journey to the border, he was attempting to cross the Rio Grande River. He held his shoes up high in the air so they would not get wet, but the water current became faster and stronger. Then, he stepped into a deep steep hole with a current that took him under the water. He fought to stay afloat kicking fiercely so that way he would not drown. Luckily, he made it across the river and did not drown that day. Believe it or not, he did not lose his shoes; he held them tight knowing that if he lost them he would never make it across the hot desert.
My father was a great man; he was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was also a great friend to many people. He was funny, and the life of the party; always joking and making friends everywhere he went. My father was an honest and giving man who was always willing to help someone in need, especially his family. He had open doors for his whole family if they ever needed a place to stay. Our father is our Hero; we will love and miss him forever.
