Zelton Knox Eubanks passed away March 26, 2013 in League City, TX. He was born December 24, 1930 to Rev. Jeff and Ernestine Eubanks in Lucedale, MS. Zelton served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed most of that time in Germany. After he was discharged from the Army, Zelton married Suzanne Bristow on June 2, 1953. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1956. Zelton worked for NASA from 1962 until 1996; the last 10 years for the Rockwell Space Operations Contract. He enjoyed the exciting times of the Apollo, Skylab and the Space Shuttle programs.
Zelton was a longtime resident of Dickinson, TX. While raising his family in Dickinson, Zelton was very active in church as a youth group leader, little league baseball coach and President of the Gator Booster Club.
In 2001, Zelton and Sue returned to Lucedale, MS where they were very active in the community and members of the First United Methodist Church. They returned to Texas in 2011 to be closer to family.
Zelton is survived by his wife of 59 years Suzanne Eubanks, their four sons Darrell Eubanks and wife Lois of Houston, TX, Rodney Eubanks and wife Molly of Orange, CA, Shawn Eubanks and wife Jennifer of Blacksburg, VA and Chris Eubanks and wife Kriss of Dickinson, TX. He is also survived by his three sisters; Melva Siddon of Lucedale, MS, Lois Lawton of Richmond, VA, Julia Cloy of Jackson, MS, and three brothers; Verk Eubanks and wife Anne of Maryland, Ivan Eubanks and wife Sylvia of Waynesboro, MS, Lemuel Eubanks and wife Nita of Seabrook, TX. Zelton is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; six grandsons, four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home Chapel with Funeral Services following at 11 a.m.
