MSG Glenn T. Adkison, US Army (Ret), 83 of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday April 23, 2013 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431N/280W, Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Adkison was born September 7, 1929 in Sikeston, Missouri, son of the late George and Ollie Ward Adkison. He was retired from the U.S. Army with more than 26 years of service which included the Korean and Vietnam Theater. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Phenix City, AL.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Gloria Kent Adkison of Phenix City, AL, sons, David Adkison (Cathy), Kendal McLendon (Tonya), daughters, Glenda Allen, Susan Mitchell (Steve), Belinda Kidd, Wanda Hobbs (Jimmy), brothers, Billy, Dale, Earl, Allen and Danny Adkison, sister, Georgia Hohensee, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
