Underwood, Virginia Claire age 80 of Whitehall, Michigan died April 22, 2013. Virginia was born in Sharon Township, MI the daughter of Clare and Verena Marks. She was married to Alfred Underwood her beloved husband for over 59 years. After graduating at Michigan State University Virginia became a dedicated educator and principal for over 42 years; with her love for children she and Alfred became foster parents to special needs children. She taught Sunday school, loved being a church librarian, and was involved in C.E.F and was very missionary minded. Virginia was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church. She was also an avid reader. Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband; Alfred, children; Claire (Mark) Black, Rev. Curtis (Brenda) Underwood, Craig (Vergie) Underwood, and Cary (Natalie) Underwood, grandchildren; Aimee, Jessica, Joshua and Joel, great grandchildren; Ben, Kaeleb and Natalie, sisters; Shirley Beane, Trudie (Mike) Marks-Dooley, and Carol Snow, sister-in law; Denise McCormick and Joanne Randall, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Virginia also leaves behind her faithful companion and family pet Dusty. A funeral service will take place Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church; 3593 Whitehall Rd Muskegon, MI 49445, burial will follow later at 3 p.m. at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place at the church from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
