Robert L. “Bobby” Cochran, 77, his journey ended on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at noon, surrounded by his family. Graveside services and a celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe McDaniel and the Rev. Phillip Bakon his dear friend officiating. The family will meet friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to service time at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. He was born in Crawford, County to the late Grover Cleveland and Hattie Lee Cochran. Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lauren Rebecca (Becki) Baggett, two brothers, Thomas and Julius Cochran, and sister, Lois C. Reeves. He was a member of Musella Baptist Church and former member of Roberta Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Lizella Methodist Church. Bobby was a graduate of Dudley Hughes High School and attended Central Georgia Technical College and Macon State College. He was state licensed in barbering, electrical, construction heating and air. Mr. Cochran was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He served on the Crawford County Board of Education from October 1975 to March 1982. While on the Board of Education he was afforded the honor of presenting his only child with her high school diploma.
He was the first employee of Coliseum Park Hospital, where he served as chief plant engineer and supervised the construction of the hospital and he also, served as chief plant engineer of the Middle Georgia Hospital.
He was past president of Southeastern Power Engineers Association, Past patron of the Eastern Star, Past Master of the Masonic Order, former member of Scottish Rite and Al Sihah Shrine. Bobby was also very active with Crawford County 4-H Club as an adult leader and was past member of the Lions Club of Crawford County, member of Crawford County Retired Educators, GA Farm Bureau and AARP.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty eight years, Betty S. Cochran of Roberta, daughter, Robin C. (Robert) Rushing of Roberta, three grandchildren, Bradley W. (Brad) Baggett (Angela) of Knoxville, Brandelyn B. (Brandi) Smith (James) of Warner Robins, Elizabeth L. (Betti) Monroe (Kamron) of Knoxville, Nathan (Lyndsay) Rushing of Macon, Robin (Dustin) Smith of Lanett, AL, three great grandchildren, Taylor, Reagan and Hunter Baggett of Knoxville, and soon to be, baby Noah Monroe of Knoxville.
