Nikkia Bannister-McKinney was born in Tuscon, AZ on August 29, 1979. She was a graduate of Southside High School in Greenville, SC. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop University and a Master’s degree from both University of Phoenix and Walden University; she was twelve credits away from completing her PhD at Walden University. During her teaching career, she was employed as an elementary teacher with several school districts across the country.
She is survived by her father, Rev. Everon (Tandy) Bannister and mother, Betty (Felix) Glasco; grandmother, Lula (late John) Bannister; husband, Ralph McKinney; daughter, Arielle Meikle and son, Aaron Bannister; four step-daughters Ty’ja, Kala, Lea, and Amia McKinney; sisters LaToya (Michael) Guidry and Yasmin Bannister; father and mother-in-law, Ralph (Barbara) McKinney and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at 11 am at Palm Downtown Mortuary (1325 N. Main St.) on Saturday, July 13, 2013 with funeral service following at 12 pm. Interment will take place at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman, South Carolina.
