Joyce Himel Diez, 77, died on Monday, July 22, 2013. She was a graduate of Donaldsonville High School. She was part of Catholic Daughters Society and Ladies Altar Society at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing charity work for numerous associations. Joyce also volunteered for Louisiana Special Olympics. Joyce is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Bradley Kuss, Buford, GA, Julie and Guy Signorino, Prairieville, La, and Melinda and Erik Perjons, Stockholm, Sweden; son, Kenneth Diez; nine grandchildren, Kourtney Santucci, Jonathan Kuss, Karoline Liu, Kaycie Tayler, Jennifer Signorino, Emily Ali, Rachel Montelaro, Kayla Neufeldt, and Madison Neufeldt; eight great grandchildren, Jack and Liam Santucci, Brett Carolino, Isabella, Joseph, and Mason Ali, John Geiger, and Liah Montelaro; four sisters, Beatrice Walker, Baton Rouge, La, Catherine Ward, Monticello, MS, Annette Sparks, Gonzales, La, and Connie Thibodaux, Donaldsonville; and five brothers, O’Neil Himel, Garyville,La, Leo Himel, Gonzales, La, AJ Himel, Gonzales, La, Leroy Himel, Gonzales, La and Larry Himel, Gonzales, La,
Preceded in death by her husband, Wille Sylvester Diez; parents, Josephine and Theophile Himel; four sisters, Cynthia Goetz, Rita May Goetz, Marie Palermo, and Jeanne Darce; and brother Lynwood Himel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 6:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Smokebend at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Mausoleum in Donaldsonville.
