Margaret W. Cunningham was born in Ashland, Nebraska on June 23, 1903, and passed on October 21, 2013 in Shoreline, Washington. Margaret passed away peacefully in her home she had resided in for 62 years at age 110. Margaret had one sibling, Helen Wollen. She was a schoolteacher, homemaker, caregiver, mother, sister, grandmother and the loving wife of 59 years to Ralph E. Cunningham, until his passing October 22, 1984. Ralph and Margaret were married in 1925; and they had three children, Carole Jean, Robert E. and Ralph T. They moved to Seattle, WA in 1937 in a travel trailer Ralph had built for them, and where she resided. She loved her cat Lucy, and her dogs. She was fascinated with nature which included: birds, squirrels and the overabundance of flowers she grew in her yard. She would sit at her dining room table staring out the window always able to identify EVERY bird that came to feed and bathe in her birdbath. She loved reading from the bible, baking, crochet and listening to musicians, and Paul Harvey and Art Bell. One thing she’d tell you that preserved her wit and longevity was due to playing Scrabble with friends and family; because it rejuvenated her brain, keeping it strong, let’s just say…she WON most of the games. She frowned upon technology, computers especially, because she felt it resulted in a lack of communication. She was a wonderful, loving, caring, generous, sincere, compassionate and gracious person.
She is survived by her grandson, William McKnight and wife Renea, granddaughter Margie Church and husband Tom, granddaughter Terri Thierry and husband Paul, grandson Bobby Cunningham and wife Judy, granddaughter Jojean Johnson and husband Denny, and granddaughter Patsy Cunningham. Margaret is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 32 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild; along with the many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She will be reunited with her loving husband Ralph, daughter Carole, son Robert, son Ralph, granddaughters Vickie and Dava, grandson David, great grandsons, her sister Helen and her dear friend Nelma, along with many more family and friends.
