George, 84 years of age, died at Hospice of the Golden Isles on Saint Simons Island on November 1, 2013. He leaves his beloved wife of over 50 years, Marilyn, loving daughters Heidi Turk of Tysons Corner, VA, Holly (Fitz) Trumble of Aiken, SC, and loving Son Karl (Kim) of Aurora, OH. George was the proud grandfather of Carter, Sydney and Grant Turk, Alexis and Logan Trumble, and Edward and Nicholas Belofsky. He was born January 22, 1929 in New York to the late Ray and Morris Belofsky.
In addition to George’s parents he is preceded in death by his sister Dolores Nova.
George graduated from the State University at Oneonta with a BS in Education and from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY with an MS in Education. George was retired from the New York State Police with the Rank of Senior Investigator, from the U.S. Department of the Interior as a Special Agent, and from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as a Chief Warrant Officer (4). He also served two tours of active duty with the U.S. Army; the second tour during the Korean War. George was a life member of the Association of Former New York State Troopers and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4092.
The family will receive friend on Sunday, November 3rd from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at St. William Catholic Church. A requiem mass will be offered at St. William Catholic Church on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 AM with Msgr. John Kenneally officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. William Columbarium.
