John Lee Hadaway, 87, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors. The Rev. Jim Hamlin, the Rev. Loran Smith and Dr. John Beck will officiate. The family may be contacted at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 269, 501 Colorado Avenue, Trinidad, CO 81082.
Mr. Hadaway, son of the late William F. and Alma Slocumb Hadaway, was born in Jones County and lived in this area most of his life. He was a graduate of Crisp County High School and served with the U. S. Navy during World War II and with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. For sixty-five years, Mr. Hadaway had been a member of IBEW Local 1316 as an electrician and was Superintendent with J. M. Clayton Co. for thirty years. He was a member of Lizella United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his devoted wife of fifty-five years, Gloria Pyles Hadaway of Lizella; his sons, Lee (Angela) Hadaway of Trinidad, CO and Joel (Brandy Ann) Hadaway of Smith’s Station, AL; six grandchildren, Rachel, Zach, Sarah, David, Kinsley and Jay Lee; his sister, Mabel Donald of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
