Funeral Service for Clifford Jewell Miller, 90, of Meeker, will be 10 am Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Meeker Assembly of God with Charles Pearcy, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 8 am – 6 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Clifford went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home in Meeker, OK. He was born in Ponca City on January 4, 1924, growing up mostly in the Ponca City area. He married the love of his life, Hilda Russell, on February 21, 194,2 in Perry, OK. They would have celebrated their 72nd anniversary next month. He was working at Midwest Creamery when they married but went to work at Continental Oil Co. on March 7, 1942, retiring from Conoco in July 1978. They moved to Meeker in 2001. Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War II, having joined the Army on January 22, 1943, with the 242nd Infantry, 42nd Rainbow Division, served in Africa and Germany, received two Bronze Stars, and honorably discharged on December 1, 1945. He bought his first guitar at age nine and was never without one after that. Music was a passion for him. He loved to sing and play his guitar, playing music at his church and the Senior Citizens Centers in Meeker, Shawnee, and surrounding towns. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Hilda, Meeker; two sons & one daughter, Gene & Donna Miller, Meeker; Rusty Miller & Angela, Tecumseh; and Vicky & Stan Mullins, Perry; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with #10 due in February. Memorials can be made to Heavenly Hospice, with offices in Norman and Shawnee, OK.
