WATSON, JAMES WILLIAM, age 91 of Birmingham, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was a son, Christian, soldier, husband, father, airman and elder. The son of Susan Lusk Watson and Judson P. Watson, he graduated from West End High School and attended UAB. He served in the army in WWII in North Carolina, the Pacific and Japan. During the Korean War, he served in the Air Force in Shreveport, LA and Puerto Rico. He loved the flag under which he served. He was also employed by Air Engineers as a sales representative. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Altha Watson; and son, James Russell Watson (Nancy). Jim was a former member of Central Park Presbyterian Church and 76th St. Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and was a friend to many. Always compassionate and merciful, he loved people, had a great sense of humor and could “think on his feet”. He was proud of his Scottish heritage. His family and friends have lost his sweet love and a sweep of his “hello” hat with a salute. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 1-2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel and his service will begin at 2 with Re. John Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.
