Mr. Hilton Lee Haigler, 84, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, February 24, 2014. Hilton was attended to at home until his health failed and he went to live at Jesse Helms Center in Monroe. They quickly picked up his love of life and nickname “Flea”. His days were filled with happiness, friendships and lots of hugs. The outpouring of love and genuine concern and care for “Flea” showed everyday by the nurses, all the facility staff, residents and visitors as well. Hilton loved the Lord and talking to anyone who would sit and share Scriptures with him. We know he is with our Lord in Heaven now reuniting with Mom. Hilton was born December 29, 1929 in Union County, son of the late William Gus and Bessie Mae Rushing Haigler, he was also preceded in death by his dear wife, Mildred who died in 2009, two brothers: Brice Haigler and William Haigler. Visitation was Tuesday night at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, Services to celebrate the life of Hilton will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Jared Smith, Elder Larry Austin, Elder Charles Broadway and Elder Newell Helms officiating, interment will follow in the Church Cemetery beside his wife Mildred. Survivors include one son: Ronnie Haigler and wife Michelle, two daughters: Joan H. and life partner Al Adams and Debbie Hinson and husband Danny, grandchildren: Chris Adams and Brittney, Donnie and Cathy Adams, Daniel Haigler, Brian and Starr Haigler, Christy Haigler, Dexter and Amanda Hinson, Lisa and Matt Ferguson, Sandy and Jamie Tarlton, great grandchildren: Jesse Tarlton, Skye Tarlton, Dallas Ferguson, Stella Ferguson, Blake Haigler, Jamison Haigler, Christian Adams, Hunter Poole, Gage Hinson, Emma Hinson, Colton Hinson, brothers: Carl Haigler, Donald Haigler, sisters: Elzena Stokes, Pat Polk, Sue Boyd and Polly Sutherland.
