Michelina “Marge” Podesta, 93, of Holiday City West, Toms River, formerly of North Bergen, NJ died Tuesday March 18, 2014 at Community Medical Center. Marge was born in Jersey City and raised in Union City. She was married to the late Jules Podesta in 1945 and was a devoted wife for 53 years. They lived in North Bergen where they raised their family, then moved to Toms River in 1985. Marge was a parishioner of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church and was a member of the Rosary Society and the church choir. She lived an active and contributory life to her community and volunteered in many capacities such as the HOA election board, pool badge checker, Bingo worker, and Westward paper delivery. For fun, she was a tough competitor on the bocci and shuffleboard courts and a member of the Italian American Club. Surviving are two sons, Peter and wife Anirina of Florida, Julian and wife Laura of New Jersey, a daughter, Angela and husband Joseph Janish of Clifton, a daughter-in-law, Celeste Podesta of Bayville, 4 grandchildren, Ericka and husband Tim McCoy of Landsdowne Virginia, Peter and wife Hayley Podesta of Dallas TX, Christopher Janish and Sonja Podesta, 4 great-grandchildren, Madeline, Turner, Hayden and Mila Kate. Marge was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and leaves behind a legacy of having devoted her life to her family’s happiness. Visitation will be Sunday March 23rd, 2014 from 2-6pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 24th, 2014 at 11:30am at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Township.
