Elbert O. Wood, 94, of Houston, Texas passed away on April 3, 2014. Elbert was born on November 7, 1919 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Otis and Anne Wood. After moving to Fort Worth and then to Albuquerque, the family settled down in Houston, Texas. Elbert did many fascinating things in his life including sailing around the world aboard a Norwegian Steamer. He faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Pacific during World War II during which he received two Purple Hearts. After leaving the service Elbert attended the University of Texas and opened his own company. Elbert is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Angelina Enos Wood. He is survived by his daughters Anne and Mary Ellen; sons Matthew and Mark; six grandchildren and two great granddaughters. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 12-1 PM with a Funeral service taking place at 1 PM. All services will take place in the Main Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale.
