Dr. Oscar Albrecht Brinckmann, 85, of Darien, GA passed away Monday May 19, 2014 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday May 24, 2014 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in Darien , GA with Father Bob Showers officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
Oscar was born in Pacasmayo, Peru to the late Erich and Emma Brinckmann Dec 23, 1928. Oscar graduated from medical school at the Universidad Nacional de San Marcos in Lima Peru. He entered into residency in Baltimore, MD at the Lutheran Hospital of Maryland where he met his wife of 56 years, Daneen Ellis.
Oscar and his wife then moved to Talara, Peru where they lived for 2 ½ years where they had their first born, George Erick. The family moved back to the states and continued his residency in Warren, Ohio where they had their second child, Joyce. After 3 years, they moved to Chardon, Ohio where their 3rd child, Paul was born.
Oscar opened his practice as the first and only OB/GYN at Geauga Community Hospital. Throughout his 27 years in Chardon, he was part of various clubs, societies and boards. His accomplishments included: Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology along with Chief of Staff at the hospital, President of the Geauga County Medical Society, President of the Rotary Club, Speaker for the Geauga Chapter of the American Cancer society as well as being on the advisory board of the Birth Right.
After retiring, Oscar and Daneen moved to Darien, GA where he was very involved in the community which include; a member of the Rotary Club, roll player at FLETC, volunteer at the Hospice of Golden Isles, and was very much involved in his church of Nativity of Our Lady.
Oscar is survived by his wife Daneen of 56 year, his sister Ursula, and his three children: George Erick (Darlene), Joyce (Bill), Paul (Donna); his grandchildren: Jason, Matthew, Nicole, Nicholas, Ryan, Austin and Alyssa; his great -grandchildren: Cody, Zoe, and Colton.
