Theodore “Ted” S. Sobczak, 76, of Ocean City and formerly of Waldorf, MD died Thursday, August 7, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born in Shenandoah, PA he was the son of the late Stephen Sobczak and Bronislawa Smurlik Sobczak. Born and raised Catholic he attended St. Luke’s Catholic Church and more recently St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with his wife. After serving in the United States Army, Mr. Sobczak worked for the Washington, D.C. Police Department until his retirement in 1980. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, boating, crabbing, and fishing, with his family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karin Sobczak; "In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love."- Mother Teresa; daughter, Christina Sobczak and her husband Agustin Cagiao; stepdaughter, Angela Andrews, and her husband Randy Roughton; stepson, Thomas Stough and his wife Susanne Justen; five grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Jesse, Lukas, and Melina; two great-grandsons, William and Gavyn; brother, John Tym; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Tym, a sister, Helen Skobel, and his beloved dog, Makwa. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 10301 Coastal Highway in Ocean City where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. T. Gregory Knepp will officiate. Interment will be held in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Eastern Shore in Hurlock at a later date.
