Carolyn LeBlanc Songy, native of Donaldsonville and resident of Thibodaux, passed away on December 31, 2017, at the age of 90. Carolyn was a friend to everyone she met. She taught for many years in the public and parochial schools of Donaldsonville. She was a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and Nicholls State University. Carolyn was an avid bridge player, and achieved the status of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. Carolyn is survived by her four children, Lynne Songy of Thibodaux, Donald Songy (Kerry) of Prairieville, Randall Songy (Nancy) of Lafayette, and Nancy Toups (Douglas) of Thibodaux; daughter in law, Audrey Songy of Huntsville, Alabama; a sister, Patricia Judice Ruckstuhl; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Claude Songy, Jr.; son, Claude “Skip” Songy, III; her parents, Adam and Viriginia Dill LeBlanc; and a sister, Loyce Waguespack Black. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will resume on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow in the church mausoleum. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. We would like to thank Ethel Joseph and the staff at St. Joseph Manor, who gave her wonderful care.
