Services for Charles Travis Walters will be Monday, February 5, 2018 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 10am with full Military honors.
Charles was born on March 19, 1935 to Adolf & Effie Walters in Springville, AL, he passed away on January 28, 2018. He was 82 years old.
Charles joined the US Army on June 17, 1952 to serve his country. While stationed in Japan he met and married the love of his life, Toyoko. They were married for 61 years. His duty stations included Alaska, Washington, Georgia, Iceland, Illinois, Ft Hood, two tours in Korea and Vietnam. Charles retired on June 30, 1974 with a rank of Master Sergeant. The following month, he began his career as a police officer for the City of Killeen. He proudly served until Jan. 31, 1997.
Charles loved to camp and fish with Toyoko. His favorite place was the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, but spent time in many of the beautiful areas around Texas. He loved it when friends and family would join them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Adolf, James and Chriss, his sister Lucille.
Charles leaves loving memories to his wife of 61 years, Toyoko, Daughter Terrie (John), Son Richard and 5 grandchildren, John Reavis, Travis, Abby, Kelsi and Scott.
