"The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." Maxine Chloe Stover, 91, passed away February 19, 2018. She was born November 4, 1926 in Mossy, West Virginia and resided in Middleburg, Florida. Maxine lived a fulfilling life in various locations of the continental United States including New York, Texas, Maryland, South Carolina, and Missouri. Her favorite pasttimes included cultivating gardens (grape vines, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, hydrangeas, roses and more), raising a myriad of animals (dogs, pigs, chickens, horses, miniature geese, and peacocks - to name a handful), immersing herself in craft projects (dolls, pillows, embroidery, crocheting, and repurposing household items such as paper rolls, containers, and retired clothing among other materials), and cooking for large family gatherings commemorating many holidays (birthdays, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Maxine was an incredibly productive woman all the days of her life who excelled at every art she practiced. She was also an outstanding and loving matriarch, caring for generations of her family. Mrs. Stover is survived by her children, Sherry and Rainer Cantu, Steve and Pame Turner, Larry Kent Jr. and Sandra Stover, Rebecca and Ernest Somogy as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother, Charlotte Markland and Gerald Coleman. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Everett and Madge Coleman, her four beloved brothers, her husband, Larry Kent Stover Sr., and her son, Michael Patrick Fitts. A visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday February 23, 2018 and a funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday February 24, 2018 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS HOLLY HILL FUNERAL HOME, 3601 Old Jennings Road Middleburg, Florida 32068. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
