Marian Flamenbaum passed on Feb. 18, 2018, in Denville, N.J. Born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the eldest of 14 children of Benjamin and Mary Rakoski. Marian married Julius Flamenbaum in 1946. She was the mother of three sons, Bruce, Robert and Gary; grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of four. She lived on Long Island with her husband, who passed in 2001, and returned to New Jersey in 2002. An independent woman who was a Rosie the Riveter on the B-29 during World War II, Marian loved history, loved to read, and was not afraid to speak her mind.
