John moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1948 and attended school at Lamar Tech. He enlisted in the army in 1951 and served in the 28th Infantry Division. After his discharge, he met and married Hazel Ruth Booker. Together, they had three daughters.
John worked for Graver Tank Services for over 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was very involved in all of their activities and was known by all at the local baseball parks as “Pop”. Just about every day he could be seen marking the fields for that day’s games. He had a passion for all sports, little league through pro. He enjoyed playing the lottery but, had much better luck at finding four leaf clovers.
