Passed from this earth peacefully at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home on March 1, 2018 and entered the Glory and Presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Janet was born in Jackson, Michigan, on July 7, 1941. Preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sophia Wowianko; sister, Carolyn Phelps; ex-husband, father of their children and friend, James J. Greer, Jr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and James J. Greer; and son-in-law, Kevin 'Kip' Winright. She is survived by her five children, Michelle M. Wolcott, Suzanne E. Patrick (Tom Barron), Daniel P. Greer, James J. Greer III, and Janet Greer; sister-in-law, Delores Jean Mohon; brothers-in-law, Robert Phelps and Jerry (Felicia) Greer; twelve beloved grandchildren; eighteen beloved great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Janet lived in the City of Jackson until she and husband Jim moved their young family to Henrietta Township to the Greer family farm and apple orchard. She received her diploma from Jackson Public Schools in 1958 and an associate degree in teaching from Jackson Junior College in 1960. She was a dedicated mother and housewife as well as becoming a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service Pleasant Lake, Michigan in 1976, retiring in 1998. Janet’s family was her life. She was very involved in helping raise her grandchildren and even some of her friend’s children. In 1982, Janet accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a dedicated servant of the Lord. She served in the Children’s Ministry as Nursery Director at New Covenant Living Church for many years and loved to host international missionaries in her home. Janet was a true shirt-off-her-back type and she gave generously to many causes, families, and individuals; mostly secretly. She was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed cooking golumpkis for family and friends. Janet also enjoyed attending Friday Fish Fry at Polish Falcons during Lent with her dear cousin Mary Kay Spencer. Other hobbies included gardening, cooking, crocheting, and sewing. Per her wishes, cremation has been chosen. A celebration of Janet’s life and home-going will be held at New Covenant Living Church (2405 W. Washington Ave., Jackson, MI) on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Janet’s honor to New Covenant Living Church Centurion Missionary Fund.
