Ralph Roberts was born July 27, 1920 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He passed away on March 11, 2018 in Bakersfield California. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 63 years Gladys and his two daughters Jackie and Donna. He was also preceded in death by brothers Dugan and Skinny. He is survived by brothers Jim and E.T. and sisters Coleen and Irene. Ralph joined the Army in 1940 in Houston, Texas. He proudly served his country during World War II. During his service he earned 7 bronze stars and one bronze arrowhead. After his service in World War II Ralph worked for the Golden Bear refinery for 30 years, retiring as a manager in 1985. After retirement he and Gladys traveled the country and beyond enjoying making friends wherever they went. Ralph's greatest joy came from spending time with family including his grandkids and great grandkids. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed cooking. He loved nothing more than having a big family barbecue and telling all the kids one of his wild stories of growing up on the farm in Oklahoma or his time spent serving in the Army. He also thoroughly enjoyed his trip aboard the Kern County Honor Flight in May of 2014 visiting the World War II memorial. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am on Thursday March 22, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kern County Honor Flight or Hoffman Hospice.
