Charles "Chuck" Plunkett died peacefully after a 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer at his home in Glendora on Monday March 12, 2018 at the age of 78. Charles is survived by his niece Debbie Dacumos of Pomona, CA and nephew Greg Terry of La Verne, CA. He was preceded in death by his father Ernie Plunkett and mother Charlotte Plunkett who both also passed away peacefully in their same home in Glendora, CA. Charles was born on November 6, 1939 in Winnwood, MO to Ernie and Vicki Plunkett. He completed 10 years of school, the last being at Citrus High School (before it became a community college). He never married, but one might say he adopted the neighborhood as he was the most conscientious community caregiver always picking up the newspaper for those who didn’t have chance to get it from the curbside or bringing in their trash cans to …
After serving 2 years of active duty in the Army and 4 years of Reserves, Charles became a highly-skilled truck driver handling the transportation of heavy equipment such as earth-movers and D9 bulldozers and such. Charles was an extremely generous individual who dedicated himself to caring for others. He loved, as previously mentioned, taking care of the neighborhood, always there for Grandpa and Grandma when they became dependent on the care of others to fulfill their daily activities. Although Charles was not an active member of the church, he did respect religion and those who believed.
A funeral is scheduled for 11 AM on Friday April 6th at Oakdale Mortuary, with a reception to follow at his home in Glendora. Charles’ nephew Greg Terry will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chuck's life. Condolences and comments can be sent to the Oakdale Obituary site.
The family would like to thank the staff at Healthcare Partners, Visiting Angels and Hospice, especially Vince, for their care and dedication.
