She was born September 5, 1943 in Highland Park to Alex and Marjorie Smith. She went to Eastern University in Charleston, Illinois. She worked for Allstate Insurance Company as an executive secretary in the Chicago area. In the 1970s, she owned a horse boarding and livery stable, called Indermitte Horse Farm in McHenry, Illinois. In 1975, the property was sold and moved to Marengo, Illinois. While living in Marengo, she assisted in the start-up of the local newspaper now called the News Herald and was the head of advertisement. In addition, she operated Indermitte Horse Transportation, Indermitte Pony Rides, and Indermitte Farms for over 30 years. Constance was also a lover of all animals. She rescued countless animals of all kinds throughout her lifetime and was not afraid to take on anything that needed help. She was loved dearly by those around her and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Constance is survived by her children Cathy Indermitte Ritzel of St. Jacob, Illinois, Scott Indermitte of Marengo, Illinois, and Tim (Lisa Elder) Indermitte of Edwardsville, Illinois and dear family friends, Kathy Branch, Darrell Loudenbeck, and Chuck Owen who were like children to her.
She was preceded in death by her father Alex, her mother Marjorie, her brother Jim, and her husband Edward Indermitte.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on April 14, 2018 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo.
