Mr. Marvin Ray Burgess, 79, of Fancy Gap, VA, formerly of Union County died Wednesday March 28, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Ray was born in Union County, June 13, 1938, to the late Milas Lee and Ruth Griffin Burgess. For 30 years Ray was a well-loved manager of Queen City TV in Charlotte, NC., then went into real estate rentals. He was the President of the Red Fez Club in Charlotte NC and a long time dedicated Shriner.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by a sister Linda, and brothers Archie, Kenneth and Phillip.
Surviving is his devoted friend and companion of 10 years Delana Burgess; daughter, April Burgess of Mint Hill; son, Roger Burgess of Midland; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Alice Blackwell of Myrtle Beach and Francis (Glenson) Funderburke of Monroe and brother, Homer Burgess of Monroe.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 7th at 1 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe officiated by Pastors Scott and Patti Simpson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children
