Mervin Jerome Poole’s journey began on March 30 2018, at the age of 94, to be with his beloved wife, Dimple Poole, of fifty-five years. Mervin attended Jackson Public School and he worked at the Railroad for many years and Wyman Gorman for forty years until his retirement. Mervin was a loving Husband, Father and was well known for his passion for dancing. Mervin would always say, “It’s not the music, it’s in the beat.” When that beat hit, you would find him on the dance floor.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Laila Lorraine Dawkins; father, William Henry Poole; Wife, Dimple Poole; Son, Ronnie Poole; Brother, Marvin (Ida) Poole; Billy (Virginia) Poole; sister, Charlotte Long; and sister-in-law, Barbara Poole. Mervin leaves to cherish his memories to his three sons: Richard, Larry and Wardell Poole of Jackson; two daughters: Deborah (James) Harrison of Redford and Brenda Poole of Lansing; one brother, Benny (Christine) Poole; one brother-in-law, Harold Glaspie; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
For the past year, Mervin (Dad) has been fighting with health issues, but when the doctors were counting him out, God said, “Not yet, Mervin. Hold on. It’s not time.” And he wouldn’t give up. Everyone that knew him knows that he was a fighter to the end, full of laughter and joy and fun until God called him home. Funeral services will be held at the Church of God (140 W. South St., Jackson) Friday April 13, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. with family hour beginning at 11:00 A.M. Viewing Thursday 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
