Theresa was born in Houston, Texas on September 30th, 1943. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1967, where she raised her family, and remained until her death.
Theresa’s whole life was devoted to her three children, Stephanie, Darryl, and Bill, and later her 7 grandchildren. When she was first diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1998, her wish was to live long enough to see, and know her grandchildren. At that time, she had one grandson.
Theresa was not only strong, but she was stubborn and would not accept waiting to die as her life. She sought out, with the help of family, clinical trials for kidney cancer. The treatments were not easy, and the side effects were at times unbearable and at least once put her in the hospital and nearly ended her life. But she endured, until the last one, that did her more harm than good. After that, she continued with traditional chemo and radiation treatments. She was determined to fight as long as she could. That is who she was, she was a fighter. She fought to be here longer for her children and her grandchildren. In her last few months she told family that she was at peace. She had been blessed with 20 years of spending time with her family and creating memories. She was at the birth of all 7 of her grandchildren, and she had many years to love on them and create cherished memories. Each of her grandchildren know and love their Granny. She created many memories with each one, that they will cherish always.
Theresa was a fighter in every aspect of her life. She raised her three children to be fighters as well. To fight for what they wanted in life and never give up. Everything she did came from a deep, deep love for those she loved. Her children and grandchildren were her world and she loved each of them to the core of her soul.
