Joyce Sweat, age 90, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Wednesday April 11, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 14, at 4 o'clock, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends in the Mausoleum Chapel, beginning at 3 o'clock. Rev. Wayne Anthony will officiate.
Mrs. Sweat was born in Wellston (Warner Robins), Georgia on March 14, 1928, to the late Henry Irwin (H.I.) and Omie Mae Collins Smith. She attended A. L. Miller School for girls and was later married to William Edward Sweat. Her children and family were of the utmost importance to her, as she was very active in PTA meetings, scouts, and all of her children's other activities. Joyce was a very active member of Westlawn Baptist Church until the church moved. Joyce later attended Second Baptist Church, but remained involved with her many passions. She enjoyed line dancing every Friday and Saturday night at the Old Clinton Opry. Joyce worked for several years and retired from YKK, but her family always came first. She will truly be missed.
Mrs. Sweat was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, as well as a brother, Thomas Smith, and two sisters, Mildred Smith and LaRue Johnson.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet Sweat Rogers (Danny), of Marietta; Julie Sweat Ellis (Duane), of Warner Robins; son, John Sweat (Jennifer), of Macon; grandchildren, Brittany Rogers (John), Chelsea Bloodworth, John William Ellis, IV, and Brian, Amber, and John Mark Sweat; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry Smith, of Milledgeville, Lamon Smith, of Kennesaw; and innumerable nieces and nephews that she held very dear.
