Rachel M. Carlton Tuthill, 77, of Pocomoke City, MD passed away peacefully on April 12, 2018 at Golden Gardens in Parsonsburg. Born December 12, 1940 in Tyaskin, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ada Horner Kirwan and Clinton Kirwan.
Rachel retired as Quantico’s Postmaster serving 19 years. She was a member of National League of Postmaster, NAPUS, the former Royal Oak Church, and was a Maryland licensed Realtor. She was an avid gardener loved her hummingbirds, and enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by two sons, John H. Carlton and Harvey R. Carlton, step son, David Tuthill; step daughter, Elizabeth Johnson; eight grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Jeff and Mike Kirwan; sister, Georgia Colona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Carlton in 1989, her second husband, Charles Tuthill in 2001; granddaughter, Cristin Carlton; two step sons, Brian and Wayne Tuthill; brother, Frank Kirwan; and two sisters, Cindy Elza and Diane Bennett.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Rev. Dean Perdue will officiate. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens. Friends may call Monday evening from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home.
