Ronald loved driving his antique tractors in parades, restoring and collecting antique farm equipment, collecting Indian artifacts, and making maple syrup. He also loved spending time with family and friends, bowling, and playing euchre with the same group of friends for about 60 years.
He was a member and co-founder of The Central Michigan Antique Tractor and Engine Club, a member of the All Color Tractor Club, and past president and director of The National Red and White Dairy Cattle Association. Ronald was also a former member of the Alaiedon Township Board of Review, the ASC Board, and a 4-H leader.
Preceded in death by grandson, Bryan Beland. Survived by loving wife of almost 68 years, Lois; children, Sharon (Dennis) Beland, Bruce (Mariah) Smith, Dave Smith; grandchildren, Brandon Beland, Donald Smith, Shaun Smith, Chelsea Smith; great-grandchildren, Tom Beland and Amilia Smith; and sister, Lorraine (Ralph) Simone. The family would like to give special thanks to Lori Hills who took such loving care of Ronald in his final months.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI 48854 with Pastor Carolin Spragg officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5-8 pm. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
