A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018
at 11:00am at Grace Bible Church,
located at 3322 Rainbow Drive, Rainbow City, Alabama 35906.

Mr. Swafford was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a 1968 graduate of Gadsden High School where he served as Class President. He was a member of his high school football team and went on to play football at Jacksonville State University. After college, he served with the United States Army as a medic and was a paratrooper with the Special Forces. Mr. Swafford retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 40 years of service. He was a skilled craftsman by trade and enjoyed building and remodeling houses. He also loved boating with family and friends. He was a friend to everyone he met, always eager to lend a helping hand. He was a wonderful husband and dad, and he had a huge heart. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Mr. Swafford was a Christian by faith and a longtime member of Grace Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Sanders Swafford.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Cathy Swafford; Father, James Swafford; Children, Keith (Jeanna) Swafford, Sally (Brian) Hill, Andy (Kelly) Swafford, Georgia (Kevin) Donalson, and Jana (Josh) Carpenter. Grandsons include, Colter Swafford, Curtis Swafford, Carson Hill, Alex Swafford, and Cale Carpenter; Granddaughters include, Mary K. Hill, Cate Carpenter, Casey Donalson, Haley Swafford,
and Holly Swafford.
Sisters, Joyce Roberts and Debbie Harper; Stepbrother, Taylor Swafford.
Several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Amedysis Hospice for their loving care and the doctors at UAB.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the church from 10:00am until 11:00am
prior to the service.
