A Funeral Mass for Curtis G. Tacy, age 75 of Lisbon, will be held at 10:00am on Thursday (May 17, 2018) at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be at 1:00pm at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chateaugay.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (May 16, 2018) from 3:00-7:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Tacy passed away May 13th at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving are his children Susan Chevrier of Malone NY, Bethann (Scott) Bruette of Lima NY, Christopher (Sherry) Tacy of Basom NY, Darrell (Julie) Tacy of Charlotte NC; grandchildren Nathen Chevrier, Conner Chevrier and Makenna Chevrier, Zachary Tacy and Jack Tacy; a brother Kenneth “Jerry” (Janet) Tacy of Malone NY, Philip (Linda) Tacy of Burke NY, Johnny Tacy of Malone, Steve Tacy of Chateauguay NY; sisters Janice (Alton) Cook of Burke NY, Elaine Labarre of Chateauguay NY; and a brother in law Keith Trudeau of Burke NY.
His wife Bonnie Tacy and sister Linda Trudeau predeceased him.
Curtis was born on June 10, 1942 in Ellenburg NY, a son of the late Ellsworth & Rita (Durkee) Tacy. He graduated from Chateauguay High School, and later was enlisted in the United States Marine Corp from 1964 – 1968. A previous marriage to Sherry Swift ended, and he later married Bonnie Sharpstene in March of 1985.
From 1964 to 1974 he worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in the Infirmary Department, and then owned and operated a farm in Burke until 1982. He then became a NYS Correctional Officer at the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2005.
Curtis enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering, yard work, working with tools, spending time with his grandchildren and being on the internet.
