Funeral services will be Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Collier-Butler Chapel for Patsy Ruth Thweatt, 77, of Gadsden, AL, who passed away Tuesday, June 5th, 2018. Dr. John Thweatt will officiate. Graveside committal services will be at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Crystal Springs, MS on Friday, June 8th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
Patsy Ruth Thweatt was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, but most of all, she was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She graduated from JSU with a BS in Education with a focus on Language Arts and taught in several local high schools, but her main passion for teaching was manifested in Sunday School classes and Bible Studies.She grew up in Crystal Springs, MS, traveled the world with her husband who retired from the USAF, and spent the last 38 years ministering to local churches in Boaz and Gadsden.
Survivors include Walter C Thweatt--husband; Kim Smedley--daughter; John Thweatt--son; Kim Thweatt, daughter-in-law; Hannah Thweatt, Hope Thweatt, Hollie Thweatt, and Kimberly Joy Thweatt--granddaughters. Carlene Cook (Bernard) Sister and Carolyn Rice (Jerry) sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering through either 12th Street Baptist Church in Gadsden or First Baptist Church, Pell City, Pell City, AL.
Pallbearers will be Curt Thweatt, Bill Thweatt, Lloyd Barlow, Mack Thweatt, Mark Thweatt, and Justin Whitney.
Special thanks to the members of the Minister's Wives Bible Study for their devoted friendship and love.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
