Danny Ross Phillips, age 63, of Trussville, Al, went home to be with the Lord on June, 6, 2018, after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Danny was born in Belgreen, Al on August, 20, 1954. Danny has always had a love for coloring and drawing. After graduating from Gardendale High School, in Gardendale, Al, he developed an interest in landscaping which turned into a lifetime of creating beautiful spaces through his career as a landscape contractor. His God-given talent was used to cultivate beauty in many capacities, including yards and gardens for friends and family, places of peaceful escape at churches and hospitals, and even a wedding venue for his daughters at his long-time church home, First United Methodist Church of Trussville.
Danny married the love of his life, Ann Lawless Phillips, on November 22, 1980, at First United Methodist Church of Trussville by his father, a Methodist Minister. Danny is known most for his hard work ethic, his giving nature, and his captivating humor and wit.
A devoted and loving husband, Daddy, Papa, and friend; he is survived by his parents, Rev. J. Franklin and Frances Phillips; his wife of 37 years, Ann; his children Lauren (Justin) Holland, Matt (Sarah) Phillips, and Ashley (Bret) Freeman; his grandchildren, Riley, Reagan, Reese, Ross, and Madilyn; his sister, Laura (Pete) Blackman; his sister-in-law, LuAnn Phillips; and a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of loving friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Phillips.
The family wishes to extend their warmest thanks to Dr. Marissa Natelson-Love and Rita Jablonski, CRNP of UAB Department of Neurology, staff of Brookwood Behavioral Health, and their church family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Trussville - Capital Campaign and the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Alabama.
The services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church of Trussville. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Graveside to follow.
