Janice Elizabeth (Nordstrom) Shirley-Gauthier, a life-long resident of Lynn, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late William and Bette (Baker) Nordstrom. Janice was raised and educated in Lynn. After high school, she worked as a secretary for Huse-Liberty Mica Company in Peabody and then at the General Electric Company. Her passion for hairdressing lead her to become a licensed cosmetologist in the 1970’s. She worked at Charles Ro Salon before going in to business for herself. She was also an accomplished seamstress. In 1998, Janice married John M. Gauthier.
In addition to her husband, John, Janice leaves her son, Eric Shirley and his wife, Stephanie of Belmont, NH, her grandchildren Hannah and Nathan, her sister, Carol A. Dixon and her husband, David of Lynn, and her niece and nephew Beth Anne Smith and her husband, Marc of Lynnfield and Scott Dixon and his wife, Toni, of Peabody and a great-niece, Sofia Dixon.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 11 am. Visiting Hours will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, on Tuesday, June 12 from 4-8 pm. The family of Janice would like to express their sincerest thanks to the nurses and staff at the Kaplan Family Hospice House for the amazing love and attention they gave to Janice while she was in their care.
