his twin brother Ronald Smith, to Nelson Smith, and Essie
Lee Dillihunt Dean in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the second
eldest son of six children.
He always had A love for sports, and was an avid sports fan
at A young age. In fact, he once tried out for A professional
baseball team. Nelson loved music and had A lot of fun
dancing. Some of his other hobbies included card games,
shooting pool, bowling, and playing bingo.
Nelson joined the United States Air Force at the age of 18,
and served from September, 1954 until August, 1977. His last
tour of duty was at Clark Air Force Base in Angeles City,
Pampanga, Philippines. Shortly after retiring, he earned a
bachelors degree in business from the Angeles University
Foundation.
Throughout his 25 year marriage with his first wife, Norma
Jeanette Parks, (deceased), they became parents to five
children, three girls and two boys. He met Erlinda Cabintoy
during his last tour of duty, and in 1992, they celebrated the
birth of their daughter. Nelson married Erlinda Cabintoy in
Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines. In 2006, Nelson moved
his family to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Those who cherished him include his loving wife of 46 years
together; Erlinda Smith, five daughters, Constance (William)
Harge, Diana Smith, LeAnna (Erick) Irvis, Delia (Ravi)
Doodram, Kimberly Smith; three sons, Nelson Smith III,
Derrick (Becky) Smith, Aldin (Heidi) Moore; three sisters and
two brothers, Delores Roberts, Doris Townser (Leon), Marilyn
Smith, Ronald - Deceased (Birlie) Smith, Jesse Smith; five
grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one great great
grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
