Geneva Robertson Turner, age 98, of Gadsden, Alabama, peacefully went home to be in the arms of her Lord on Saturday June 9, 2018. She was born in Clay County. In her early twenties, she married J.C. Turner and entered the military life.
Having worked in several government jobs over the years, she settled in Gadsden in the early 60's and ended her career with the Anniston Army Depot.
Following retirement, she volunteered in the office of 12th Street Baptist Church, where she was a member for several years. She stayed busy by helping others in need.
Geneva's passions were serving others and writing poems and stories. She finally realized a life long dream and had a book published in her later years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and six siblings. She is survived by her sister Idell Townsend, her two daughters Sharleen (Clay) Reeder and Brenda (Phillip) Vezertzis, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Geneva will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Collier Butler Chapel with Pastor Craig Sitz and Brother Steve Parrish officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Collier Butler Funeral Home . Burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at Lineville in Clay County, Alabama. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.
