Jack proudly served his country in WWII in the third Army, in the advanced artillery unit, as a fire control electrician from 1942-1945. Serving in Central Europe in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland where he saw active service duty; earning the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal as well as a Medal of Good Conduct.
Upon his return from duty, he married the love of his life, Helen O'Keefe. He worked for many years at IBM as an electrical engineer until retirement.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen Montren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Montren and William Montren; and his sister, Helen Montren.
Jack is survived by his sons: John J. Montren, of Cary, William "Bill" Montren and wife Liz, of Creedmoor; and by his three grandchildren: Michelle, Shawn, and Lauren Montren.
A Celebration of Life Service for Jack will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612.
