Ms. Carolyn Branda, of Houston, Texas, born on November 5, 1949 in Galveston, Texas, to Marilyn Branda Wood and the late Floyd Branda, passed away at age 68 on July 16, 2018. Family and friends will remember Carolyn's wit, intelligence, love of conversation and her huge heart. A voracious reader and lover of the arts, Carolyn had a passion for classical piano, especially Schubert, Chopin, Bach and Mozart, and graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in music. Carolyn is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Green and Sarah Sharp and son-in-law Andrew Sharp; her son, Matthew Walter and daughter-in-law Whitney Eulich; former spouse Bernard John Walter; brothers, James Branda, Brian Branda, Michael Branda, and Thomas Branda; sisters, Terri Branda Carter, Susan Branda Martin, and Ellen Branda Hamilton; grandchildren, Jacob Buchanan, Olivia Green, Alistair Sharp, Stella Sharp, Angus Sharp, and Josephine Walter; and 16 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn asked that donations be made in her name to support literacy. Those who wish may donate to roomtoread.org, or to other nonprofits that support literacy in their communities. Friends and family members may attend the memorial service on Friday, July 20 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of St. Basil at the University of St. Thomas, 1018 W Alabama, Houston.
