October 20, 1923 ~ July 30, 2018
Lou Etta Compton was born on October 20, 1923 in Texas and passed away at the age of 94 on July 30, 2018 in Monterey. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Harold, who passed away December 4th, 1994. She is survived by her children, Lynette Perry (David), Larrain Berry (Craig), Roger Compton (Ronda), and Ronald Compton. She leaves behind seven grandchildren; Laura, Brianna, Kimberly, Max, Kendall, Katie, Cassandra, and four great-grandchildren; Rachel, Charlie, Mason, and Ariana.
Lou was employed as a clerk at the Fort Ord Credit Bureau before becoming a housewife and caregiver for all of her children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by friends and family for her compassion and sense of humor.
Lou was known for her quick wit and outspokenness, which made interactions with her more interesting and memorable. Her unfailing honesty was a breath of fresh air that could be counted upon. Always supportive, she provided a salient example to emulate in all aspects of life, from her devotion to family and friends, to an unswerving faith in a loving God.
We greatly appreciate the support of her friends throughout the years, especially as the end of life approached. Donna Nair, Marge Taylor, and Karlan Poma will have our eternal love and thanks for their devotion.
We wish to express our gratitude as well for the excellent care Lou received during her waning years at Carmel Hills Care Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name to the VNA and Hospice, PO Box 2480, Monterey, CA, 93942 would be greatly appreciated.
A private celebration of her life with her family will be observed on August 24th. Please visit www.thepaulmortuary.com to sign Lou’s guest book and leave messages for her family.
