Mary L. Edwards, born September 24th, 1957, passed away August 1, 2018 in Gadsden, AL. She grew up in Coats Bend on her Parent’s farm and attended Hokes Bluff High School. During her life, she worked alongside her husband as a painter, but her primary focus was on raising her children, who she took great pride in, and being a caregiver for her loving parents, and then her husband, William “Skip” Edwards. She will be remembered as a loving spouse, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister. She enjoyed reading, mostly mystery and thrillers. Like her Mother, she took a great deal of pride in her yard, and particularly her flowers, and got great joy from seeing them flourish. She considered her home a haven for animals of all sorts, but most importantly dogs. Any dog that wandered up always knew her kind spirit would let it stay, providing all the love, comfort and shelter needed.
She is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Harry and Helen Boatfield, and her Brother, C. Joe Boatfield. She is survived by her husband, William “Skip” Edwards, children, Jennifer (Danny) Jackson, Mark (Ashley) Edwards, and grandchildren Kennedy, Jamison, and Madison, along with her Brother, James (Peggy) Boatfield, and Sister, Mary Helen Tolbert.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Etowah County Humane Society.
The family extends its deepest appreciation to Dr. Davenport, Shannon, and Amy, and all the physicians and nurses who provided her care in the SICU at Gadsden Regional.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 4th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Collier-Butler, along with a private family service at 1:00 PM.
