A gathering to celebrate her life, grieve, and support each other will be held at her sister Sheila’s house at 11 AM on Saturday, August 11th in Brunswick, Georgia.
Jeannie was born on August 20th, 1951 in Hartford Connecticut to Elaine and Hector Russell. She grew up in Concord Massachusetts with her brother Lee and sister Sheila, where she enjoyed playing by the Concord River, climbing trees and listening to the Beatles. She graduated from Concord Carlisle high school in 1969, after which she attended the University of Maine. While there, she married her first husband, Don Young, and raised her children with him in western New England. She was a loving mother to her four children.
In addition to her family, Jeannie was devoted to the church. She was Director of Christian Education at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, Massachusetts from 1986-1991 and then at the First Church of Christ in Milford, Connecticut from 1991-1996, where she enjoyed with working with the children.
Jeannie moved to coastal Georgia in 1996, where she later met and fell in love with Rocky Brown. They were married in 2011. Rocky and Jeannie share an eternal bond – their deep devotion to one another inspired everyone around them. He cared for her tirelessly through her illness, and their love buoyed them throughout.
She is survived by her husband, Rocky Brown, her four children, Derek Young, Ryan Young, Kirsten Smith and Lauren Yannarella, and her three grandchildren, Sophia Yannarella, Kit Brown and Harry Young, and her sister Sheila Krider.
