Marjorie (Farrell) Emerick, age 87, beloved wife of Rudolph Emerick, joined him in eternal life on August 8, 2018, surrounded by family. Marge was born in Glastonbury on April 11, 1931 to the late James and Marie (Damery) Farrell. Marge graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1949, then worked at the Phoenix Mutual Underwriting Department. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Rudy, in 1951. They celebrated 62 years of marriage in 2013, the year Rudy passed.
She left Phoenix Mutual in 1951 to work 3rd shift with Rudy at United Technologies, until 1955 when their first child was born. Marge stayed home to raise her children, returning to United Technologies in 1973. She was very gifted in mathematics, and graduated at the top of her United Technologies class, becoming a Gage Inspector in the Gage Standards Inspection Department. But her first priority was always her husband and children, for which she was grateful, and told everyone how lucky and blessed she was. Marge and Rudy both retired in 1987, enjoying many years travelling the Caribbean, Hawaii and the United States, and being snowbirds in Florida, with their many wonderful friends from Glastonbury. Marge was a volunteer at Manchester Memorial Hospital for several years, and enjoyed supporting the cancer causes.
She leaves behind her beloved and devoted children and their spouses, daughter Sheryl and husband Tim McMullen of Vernon, daughter Patti Emerick of Broad Brook, son David Emerick of Alabama, son Alan and wife Katherine Emerick of Manchester, and grandchildren Chad Emerick of South Windsor and Kathryn Emerick of Texas. Marge was predeceased by a son Steven, and 3 sisters, Mary J. Stanley, Elizabeth Cowles and Dorothy Hosier.
We would like to extend a very special thank you to Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, for the great kindness and loving support they gave to Marge and her family, we feel blessed that she, and us, felt surrounded by love.
